The beginning of the story of Dave Lister, the last human being alive after being in stasis during the disaster that wiped out the ships crew. The computer (Holly) wakes him up after 3 million years (after the radiation has died back to safe levels). His only companions are a hologram of his dead bunk mate and a life form which evolved from his cat. Utterly hilarious.
